I built this for a client then they decided to move and didn’t want it so it ended up on my patio. It is red oak ply and red oak. The bar rail started out as 1”3/4 ended up at 1’1/2. the bar top and work surface are laminate to match a color they wanted. I also inlayed strips of the laminate on the front pilistarers.

Nice work! I really like the inlay strips on the front pilistarers. It really adds some character to the piece.

Craig,
The inlays add a nice touch to the bar. This is a very nice piece for your patio. You were out a commission but you did gain a nice piece of furniture that I am sure your Boss appreciated.
I am sure that you are different but what I have found is that, among my friends that are pros, blocking out time to complete something like this for their homes is very difficult for them to do. For example I had a friend who couldn’t (wouldn’t is probably a better term) get around to hanging a bathroom door for over 3 years. His wife had to nail a shower curtain over the doorway for privacy.
Thanks for the post.

Scott, you are right I am kind of the same way, when it comes to getting my own stuff done it sits on the back burner.
ND2elk: Thanks, on this one I got a 50% non-refundable deposit

I’ve seen that same expression (tongue-in-cheek) on my wife as well, and it usually means she don’t like it. Or she don’t like it sitting outside where it could be in her kitchen! Or she wants you to build her a new kitchen! LOL! Regardless, it’s a nice one to say the least. Hope you’re able to use it or sell it.
50% deposit…good idea!

Well you got yourself a top-notch bar for about half price. That’s not all bad.
