Quickie workbench

I built this workbench (with the help of my 5 yr old grandson) recently. This is pretty much the workbench on Fine Woodworking’s video series with Asa Christiana and Matt Berger. It is a couple of pieces of 3/4 MDF atop a 2×4 frame with 4×4 cedar legs all bolted together with 3/8” threaded rods. I found a crappy vise in a rent house and attached it. I think this is eventually going to get a piece of plexglass on top because I plan to put it out in the shed where I work on my motorcycle carbs.

It’s sad, you’ll notice it is not even finished yet and already stuff is accumulating on the lower shelf.

When I first read the title, a strange image entered my head! I saw a workbench with silk linens & pillows, some rose petals and a bottle of wine, all illuminated by a candelabra. What do you expect, I’m a guy and the title did say “Quickie”. Lol.

Actually, your workbench looks mighty fine!

I will probably make a very similar workbench as I’m in need of a quickie also, workbench or otherwise!

All that counts is if it does what you need.

Wow Randy! I guess I need to be more selective in my wording. But you’re right, that does sound a little suggestive.

Very nice, I bet the best part of this project was the help from your grandson. As for the Quickie comment from Randy, we must have the same twisted mind, I was thinking along this lines when I read the title.

-- Martin ....always count the number of fingers you have before, and after using the saw.
