This was a quick off the top of my head design, or had I seen this before? Not sure, Please let me know if any of you have come across this box. I’m curious really, I mean it’s not THAT unique, so I’m sure it’s unoriginal. Really though, who cares? It was fun! And I’m not selling it! LOL
It’s made of maple, teak, and a bit of curved rosewood, which by the way, was very easily bent into a mock up jig, after pressing the strips with a steam iron for a couple minutes.

Very nice! I like it! Great design and execution.
What are the dimensions? What finish did you use?
I would be tempted to put a hinge on the lid. Did you consider that?

You need to check the top of your head more often. That is a cool box.

Great design. Original or not, you have done a really nice box. Good problem solving with the use of the iron. I wouldn’t sell it either (my wife would lay claim to it before I could even figure out how much to charge for it.:-) I look forward to seeing more of your projects.

Sweet. I really like it. A lot of little design elements in there. The feet, the matching grain, the bent wood, the curves, the splines ….
Good idea on the steam iron, I’m going to have to remember that.

This is a wonderful box and a great post. The details tell a tale as does the design in general. Love the curved rosewood especially (and the iron hint).

A very unique box with good choice of wood. The curved rose wood adds to its beauty.

Pretty spiffy. And if it’s not unique, it oughta be!

That is sharp. I’m going to call it original – at least to me. It came out very nice. I also appreciate the steam iron tip.

Nice. I like the contrasting wood. Is the inside lip stained a different colour or is it an inlay of some sort?
