My brother bought a cnc machine a couple of months ago. He made a lithophane of our dad from his senior portrait taken when he was 17. He gave it to my mother and told her to have me make a light box for it. I didn’t like anything I saw on line for lighting lithophanes. So I used Stevinmarin’s Japanese style lamp idea for a light box.
I used dowel reinforced butt joints instead of lap joints. The wood is third hand scraps. But I think it is maple and cherry? I used plexiglass for the top panel.
And the last picture is a blend of two pictures to show the lithophane and lamp both lit up at the same time.
