Of all my projects, this is the one that I can most call my own. That is because for most of my projects I modify a number of other peoples designs that I like and find one that suits me. I guess I’m still trying to find my own style. However this project was completely my design. I tried some brass hinges but didn’t like the look so I made the wooden ones. They get a bit squeaky when I leave the box in the garage but otherwise work well. I like the idea of it being a box for my woodworking tools where everything is made from wood!

This is nice. I like your design, especially the wood hardware. That is something I haven’t tackled yet.

That is beautiful. It is much too nice to be used as a piece of shop furniture. I really like the wooden hinges as well and it would make a nice box to store your tools.

I would have a hard time getting my jointer in there however. :)

Thanks for the post.

Really nice design. Beautiful wood and tight joinery. One of my favorites.

I also use wooden hardware when I can. It makes the piece more unique.

Beautiful wood that mohogany! I agree with Scott in that it looks to good to be banged around in the shop.
As far as the squeak with your hinges is concerned, my grandfather use to rub the a bar soap on the drawer slides to “lubricate”or make them slide better. Perhaps getting the pulverized soap in the hinges might elliminate the squeak. It wouldn’t be seen and I don’t think it will hurt the wood hinges. Just a thought!

Very nice work. The details are what make it even better; the crisp and clean joints and the nicely made fastners. As far as the squeek… rub a bit of beeswax on the pins and all should be good.

Sincerely,
Tom

MAn, that is nice. Do you have the nerve to put tools into it?

The box looks great. It really feels good to be able to call something totally your own.

How about posting something on how to do the hinges and the latch. That looks like something I would like to try sometime.

Keep up the great work!

The problem with seeing all these awesome projects is that my list of things to make keeps getting longer. I love the hinges and I have to try them.

Use a bit of talcum powder as a lubricant. It works great, I use it on squeaky wood floors….
