This is my first cutting board so thought I would post it. Nothing special like some of the fantastic lazy larry boards and the tumbling block boards but I thought it turned out pretty nice.
I have to tell the quick story as to how this came about.
I have thought about making some of these quite some time ago, but never got a round to it.
My wife needed a new cutting board and I have been saying that I would make one. Yeh, when !
Finally we were in a BB store and she saw a $19.95 cutting board and threatened to buy it….. well, I just couldn’t have that so I said, “o.k., this week I’ll make it”..... well, here it is….. The only condition was that she actually had to use it. Well to my surprise, she has used it and loves it.
Claro Walnut – Padauk and Yellowheart
12” x 20” finished with salad bowl finish and then topped off with George’s Club House Wax.
Can’t remember, but thanks to the LJ to put out a good review on this stuff, it is great!

That is one spectacular CB. The grains just keep the design flowing.

What a shame to put a knife to such a beauty.

Beautiful – hope it hangs on the wall where it’s visible when not being chopped on (ouch!).

Great looking board….there is always room for more cutting boards…..There is so many patterns, woods….etc….it would be a seriously difficult project to calculate the total permutations with all those variables. This one is indeed a winner.

Wow, I’d like to find some Claro Walnut that look like that!
Gr8 Board.
Hope wife hangs it on the wall and buys the junk board for $19 to do her cutting

Great ‘first’ job Gene. You must have approached this like you do you boxes! Nice wood. I keep refinishing two boards we got for wedding presents in 1980. My wife often sees my new boards and mumbles something. I don’t hear well at times!! Your wife is lucky and smart. I wouldn’t spend the $19.95 either.

Thanks for the wonderful comments everyone, this was fun to make and will probably make several more…....uhoh, ham I hooked??!! LOL Never give my boxmaking though !
Ira – You want Claro…... let me tell you , I have a wonderful friend in central california that provided this to me.
It came from 2” wide stick with knots in various locations, but look how it came out. BTW, my friend sometimes goes by “Rustfever” on this great woodworking site called LJ’s…... you ought to check it out !!!!!
