Mission Style Mirror

This past year my family finally understood what the Bungalow/Arts & Craft styles are all about. So little by little we’ve been working to return design elements back to our house style. Design elements of this can be seen in most of the projects I’ve posted here.

This mirror project was on my “to do list” to nudge our home re-design forward.

We had an existing mirror with a white wicker frame—it was ugly and didn’t match anything in our house. So I reclaimed the mirror, burned the other ugly frame, and built this to replace it. It’s simple, but it really adds another component to our bedroom that is making it feel more like a “suite” rather than eclectic hand-me-downs.

I added a few little details just for variety.

Nice job on the mirror, looks great. Nice touches dressing it up.

Glen;

This a great looking mirror. We like the A&C elements as well. Is that white or red oak?

If your burned the old frame to provide shop heating, that’s recycling at its best! ;-)

Thanks for sharing a good looking project.

Great Glen, I like the corbels on the sides, nice touch.

Thanks, all!

(Side note – I’m pretty sure I’m going to dump facebook and focus on LJs. WAY less drama here!)

It’s red oak, Viking. Just getting an order together of quartersawn white oak for a Spring project.

And Tim – the corbels were from my headboard project, but I ended up not using them. I like them on the mirror. Thanks for pointing them out!

I’ve said it before, you can’t go wrong with the Arts and Crafts style. Great looking mirror Glen. Thanks for sharing.
