I made this box yesterday 1/30/2012 It is made with aromatic cedar and maple. It ia 9”/6”/6” not my best box but its a box lol. I still have alittle work to do to it before it will be up for sale. I also want to thank everyone that stops bye and comments on what we do.
Ok after thinking about the color of the top I built a new one for the box I think it looks much better. The last two pictures are with the old lid.
Thanks L an D Woodworks

Beautiful box, I love cedar. Especially the aromatic stuff. Very nice use of the sapwood, too. Looks great!

Big plus for the way you kept the sapwood at the top, all the way around. And I kinda like the double arch at the bottom/ front. The lift out tray is just about perfect.

But if you want honesty- in my opinion, the maple is a bad match for the cedar. Could be your camera is not true to the colors, but for some reason, to me, that just doesn’t look right.

I wonder how it will age? I bet the colors will look better a year from now.

Nice work Dennis. The work on the top makes it look like the Curly Redwood. It is a bit dark against the white sapwood, but it works. Not bad for a ‘newbie’!

Nice work. Love the lift out tray and the splines. Nice job.
