I finished this pen tonight.
It’s a platinum cigar kit from Woodcraft. The woods are jatoba and maple.
I used a CA/BLO finish.
There are over 200 individual pieces used in creating this pen. I’ve stopped keeping track of hours, though past pens have taken 6-8 hours to complete.
This pen is being donated to my daughter’s school for a fundraiser.
comments and critiques are welcome. thanks for looking.

Nice! – good idea not to keep track of time with so many little pieces.

This is gorgeous, Darryl. I would love to be able to do something like this.

Thanks Dan & Scott(s)!
Dan, I wrote a little tutorial with the first segmented pen I made. it’s not so much hard as it is tedious!

Darryl that’s a beauty. You sir a man with great patience. Pen really looks spectacular, and was well worth the hours of work it must have taken.

wonderful work, truly special and unique. Another good project posting from you.
Blog so that we know how the auction came out. I was considering doing a bird house for my kid’s school. Now, I feel guilty. Aw, shucks.

That is a beauty. You really did a good job of fitting the segments. There are no gaps that I can see.

Thanks Bill, Mark, Rikkor, Mario and Kerux
I do think the segements look better on this pen than any of the previous. hopefully I’ve worked out most of the bugs in my technique!
As to the fund raiser, this isn’t an auction. The PTA setup a calendar raffle. tickets have been sold and each day a name is drawn. so someone could get this pen and only spend $5. The raffle has earned quite a bit. plus it gets my name out there a little more with all of the teachers!

Wow—the pen looks great. It should fetch a great price at the fundraiser.
