Just got a Dewalt 788 scroll saw. Never use one before I really want to get into Marquetry. This is my first effort a plack for my grand daughter she loves cat’s. I cut out the letters and the cat from veener and then mounted on MDF put it into my vacuum press I just recently built and it worked how about that. (this method is called packet cutting)

This is a very nice project and I am sure that your granddaughter will enjoy the sign. It is always exciting to get a new tool in the shop.
Congrats on the saw. I have one on my list (along with a number of others I would like to have).

That is awesome. You will enjoy the scrolling. It’s a nice break from the big saws, give you time to think just a little more – but don’t forget that the scroll saw blade will cut too – just not as fast.
