Every day almost we read here about wonderfull packing crate finds. Made of ancient kauri, Mahogony and Zebrawood. Ok maybe never those but certainly maple and oak and other deliciousness. Found wood. Then we see them beautifully crafted into exquisite pieces by creative Lumber Jocks. Even the simple pine crates become magnificent boxes and furniture.
So in tribute to the positively precious pallet I made one. Not from found wood or even old packing crate wood. But store bought hardwood. In this case Cherry and Rock Maple.
Please note the carefull attention I gave to replicating this wonderfull source of wood. The rough cut components, not one with a straight edge, and not one with the same width or thicness. The superfluous use of nails that are gloriously outsized for their intended purpose. It was particularly hard to crack, split and crush the edges to get an authentic look.
It was finished with an initial coat of Corona Light followed by several coats of a very nice Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa.
Anyway, its on my driveway if someone needs wood. If its not gone by morning I’m putting it on Craigslist.

Heh heh, you must have actually posted this yesterday because I think I just saw your Craigslist add. Pretty clever!

Good try but it’s way to nice for the packing crates I’ve seen. Better luck next time. LOL

So you started with corona light and new business was born. If your wife gets a flat from running over it you might need more beer.

HAHAHA I love it!!! You could make a set of drink coasters for sure!! They would definitely draw some attention! Now that I think about it, I might have to borrow your idea and make a set of coasters for the house

That is awsome, and the attention to detail is amazing. Great idea and creativity. I may just be creative myselft and copy what you did there.

This is certainly unique compared to most other projects on LJ. Folks creativeness never ceases to amaze me. You are certainly raising the threshold with this one!

Wait a minute – it’s only teeny tiny sized?!? Even amazinger! The first pic is really convincing as a full size pallet, looks like it’s sitting on t+g flooring planks relative to the background. Cool goodness :)
