Here are a couple of segmented turnings that I made. They are made of leftover cedar, apple, and sumac. I cut the scraps into pizza slices and created layers of rings. I glued the rings into a cylinder and turned them into shape on the lathe. The finish is 3 coats of paste wax. It buffed really nicely on the lathe. Segmented turning is very fun. Now that I have started I can’t stop! For a first time doing segmented turning I think I did pretty well. Can’t wait to do some more.

You did very well. Some great looking turnings, friend. What did you use for the rim on the taller piece?
I like the different colors. Very interesting combination.

Thanks for the comments. Believe it or not, the rim on the taller one is plywood. I was surprised about how nice it looked afterwards.
