I saw Stumpy’s Tubafore contest on the forum page and thought it would be fun to enter. I had a few really good ideas, but ran out of time so this is what I ended up making. It is a roof trus necklace. It measures 2” wide, 3/4” tall and 1/8” thick. I took a tubafore and resawed it on my bandsaw before cutting the necklace on my scroll saw.
It was a fun little project

Nice! I guess you’ve got enough of the tubafore left over that you could build the rest of the house too!

That is great. I am amazed at the imagination that was shown in this contest.

I think that it is the same as what I see with my young boys. The simpler and the more limited the materials they have to work with, the greater the imagination they exhibit. You should see what they can come up with using things like scrap paper, rubber bands and duct tape!

I have to agree with Chuck. A lot of creative projects have come out of a simple piece of wood. Great idea on the necklace…..

That’s pretty cool. I’ll have to make one for my wife. I’m sure I have a piece of 2X4 around here somewhere. But since she doesn’t know about this contest, she’ll probably get stuck with some waste maple from the kitchen cabinet I’m working on. Shhh…don’t tell her it ain’t DF.

Cool. I like the fact that she’s wearing a true woodworker plaid shirt too. LOL. :)
