My son had a tree in his backyard that fell down due to rot and I salvaged a few good pieces. I don’t know
what kind of wood but it cut liker butter on my lathe with my carbide cutter. Wife needed something to put her rings in at night and I made this for her. I like the shape. I finished it with BLO and a little Hut friction polish.
Not too experienced on my lathe yet but I think it’s an improvement. Always striving. Thanks for looking.

Turned out excellent, ed. It sure looks like oak to me. For turning, oak isn’t very hard, but try carving it. I did a sane, but won’t again any time soon, unless it is ordered and paid for LOL :)
