I thought I would ‘get in the game’ with some Toy Trucks. I enjoyed this project because it fit my talents, my mood, my budget and resulted in a usable item. I liked the 1:30 scale for the trucks for multiple reasons, the width of a truck at that scale is close enough to 3-1/2” I can use scrape 2×4’s for most everything, 1-1/2” diameter wheels work out fairly accurate to scale, the toys are of a unsubstantial size that child can enjoy playing with, and it fits my tools (a 9” band saw with 3-1/2” maximum cutting throat).
I did spend a bit on the wheels and dowels for axles, but all other stock was from the scrap bins.

Soft, suggestive, warm looking with many great details. A tour de force. Never saw 2×4’s looking so good. Love the knuckle hinge and the lifts on those dump trucks.

Cool! Would have loved to have those as a young boy! Need some straight twigs for that lumber carrier!

Fine looking toys.
I am also making a truck, and am stuck on should I paint the wheels, or leave natural.
Thanks for sharing.

That’s a sharp looking fleet. I like the level of realism you chose to go too…a suitable resolution, in other words.

These look fantastic! Any chance you could tell us where you got the plans or are you willing to share if self made? I’ve recently begun making wood toys with my daughters and this would be a great one!

Very well done Kevin, That’s one beaut fleet of trucks, the whole construction crew is covered.
You should be very proud of the workmanship in completing such a fine group.
The kids will be lining up to play with them.
