I want to start out and thank those who came before me that have inspired and taught me. Mainly Greg and Andy. We all have seen their boxes and loved them. This is my interpretation of a art that they have mastered.

This was a extra box left over when I made a big batch for Christmas. I decide I wanted to do a blog about sculpting boxes. You can find it here http://lumberjocks.com/JoeyG/blog/series/4605.

As I was sculpting the box, it began to remind me of the beach. The cold weather outside could have been an influence as well. The handle made of walnut and maple began to make me think of the walkways and stairs that lead over the dunes at Hatteras and the sparkle of the mahogany reminded me of the sand. As the project progressed it became obvious that I couldn’t name it anything else.

Thanks for taking a look

Joey

Great job, Joey. You’ll be giving a Greg a run for his money!

That turned out really well. I love the sculpting and the handle is extra cool. The finish turned out awesome.
