Andy themed box

Most of the Andy styled boxes on this site are of his beautiful art wave-like boxes. But when planning on making this box for an anniversary present, I was looking at the contests and saw Andy’s “Circa” radio box. I thought he did such a nice job I wanted to attempt it with a twist.

They were married in 1984 so I partially inlayed those numbers onto the corner. The hardest part was getting the fins lined up properly. The lid I would call of an Asian style?

This box was a lot of fun, though tedious.

Criticism is always welcome!

Very good job. I bet those fins did give you a time! The couple receiving this will love it!

Nice box Joshua, I like the wood combination.

E. WA.?, GU?, Spokane per chance? : )

It’s very unusual but you did a nice job on it.

choppertoo Yes, eastern washington, spokane and Gonzaga. 3 for 3. I just graduated from Gonzaga in 2010 and am loving the Northwest except for the snow right now. Are you from the area too?

Greg On the top there is a combo of purpleheart maple and walnut. Though I did line the insides with zebrawood, felt like the inside needed a little pep up.

Josh, what a unique idea and a great looking box. Antique radio buffs (I have one of those friends) would really dig a box like this. Looks great, thanks for sharing.

I like the box, very well done. I seen a radio that looked like that on Antique Road Show on PBS last weekend, that I was wanting to make, which was about the same style as yours.
