Billiards Triangle

In July I received a new pool table as a wedding present but it had no triangle to set the balls with. I was just going to go buy one, but you can either get plastic, or some cheap wood one…So this is what I came up with.

The sides are walnut heartwood and sapwood, with purpleheart mitered keys in two directions since it will be getting bumped around a lot with the billiard balls.

Hey! lookin good! I think its the first one of these I’ve seen on LJs! They’d make good presents, with maybe the person’s name inlayed in the side???

did you use a template from somewhere?

again, great job!

Excellent work! I love the use of the sapwood—people usually just throw that part out. Now all you have to do is make one for 9 ball configuration. ;-)

dakremer- The personalized inlay idea sounds real good! I may have to try that out. I didn’t actually use a template, since it is a equilateral triangle (60,60,60) I just made it a little large so i could lift it off the racked balls.

Brandon W- The 9 ball one is on the way! and thanks to dakremer, I may hit out a prototype inlayed one for myself.

that is the coolest post on LJ I have seen for a while. Nice job. I want one, and I don’t even have a pool table….

Very nice! It would go perfectly with the pool sue rack I just posted.
I would be interested in exactly how you built this.

Wow – that is great. It was a smart idea to make one yourself.
