Made this box for my Dad. When he was no longer able to work the tools he asked if I wanted his unused wood. It appears he had had this black walnut laying around for close to 40 years and just could never decide what to make from it because it was “special”, for his Dad had given it to him and he had had it for who knows how many years. Naturally I said YES!!

So now I had it. But what to do with it? A Tribute Box. My Dad was in both the Navy and Coast Guard and proud as ever to have been. I came up with the idea of a box, but with Service Medallions inlayed. And not just a mitered corner box, but a box-joint box.

As an ex-service member myself, it was an honor and privilege to make it for this ole veteran. He was floored. It was awesome!
