pine dovetailed chest

Made this chest from furniture grade pine for a friend who has been restoring a 120 plus years old log cabin on his family’s property. Chest is used as a low table in front of the fireplace and sofa. Front, back, and sides are joined with through dovetails, top and base edges are a simple bevel. I made a lift out tray with dividers to sit inside the chest.

Finish is a very light cherry stain over blond shellac base coat, then several coats of Maloof hand applied oil finish.

Great project. I especially like the “warm” color. It would look right at home in that cabin. Thanks for sharing.

that’s a nice finish on a nice chest.they say pine is a wood that don’t finish well i’d say you proved that wrong
