This was a commissioned project, and so these two tables have been sold.

Project Story:

This project was commissioned by an Interior Decorator that could not buy the imported tables in a catalog because they were “discontinued.” Feeling frustrated one day, she mentioned the problem to the remodeling contractor, a good friend of mine, and he recommended me for the job of building the tables. I improved a little on the styling and construction methods, but kept the over all feel of the import catalog photo.

Made from Poplar wood
Corner Posts Frame Design
Tile Borders around the top and base are small wood tiles made from poplar, then painted.

Thanks,
Mark DeCou www.decoustudio.com

Mark. this piece is entirely different than what I’ve come to expect form you. I’t certainly doesn’t carry your normal signature.

I like the versatility this piece represents in your repertoire. Lovely project.

Yes, I didn’t think this was your project at first. ;)

Thanks guys, this is actually a more difficult project than it first appears, using corner post construction with turned corner posts. I did them on the Legacy Mill, which makes easy work of this type of cabinet construction.

The design idea for the cabinets was not my own, as a much more cheaply made version was first sold through an Asian importer. But, when they became obsolete in the catalog, and the decorator still wanted two of them, I was asked to build them. It was a fun project, but not a style I would have dreamed up on my own.
