My wife has a little arthritis in her thumb, and finds it easier to use a large pen. Also, her favorite color is purple – which has nothing to do with local football. The materials are Purpleheart, Pink Ivory, and Acrylic. The “purple swirly” has no finish other than micro-mesh to 12000. The other two are CA/BLO and Hut wax.

Nice pens, rikkor.
Football? Hmmmm…. I’m thinking about a black and gold pen for myself. :-)

rikkor,
You are really getting the hang of this aren’t you? Very nice.

love these pens. I like the bigger pen sizes myself. Got to get going on my lathe again.

Love these pens, I’ve been thinking of making some thicker pens as well.

Nice pens rikkor – the thickness of them are excellent for someone with arthritis.

Nice looking pens. How does the acrylic turn as opposed to wood?

Thanks trifern. The acrylic actually turns pretty easily. Start with a sharp gouge, take it easy going in until it is cylindrical. Then it turns pretty normally. It really polishes up nice with micro mesh.

Love that acrylic one. I want to start turning so bad but I have to save up for a lathe first. Great job.

That purple is so neat… could make a nice LSU pen out of it!
