My very first design an joinery project, completed in July 2007 in Altadena, CA for the lovely Molly. She still likes to hang out in there and is the most adorable dog ever, playful but trustworthy and a second mother to the kids. She does not forget about us, even though we visit only each summer from june to august and she keeps my in-laws safe and happy all year long. She was a little scared by the flash of the camera so she tried to hide after the 3rd picture.
Doghouse is made of 2×4 douglas fir joined by mortise & tenons. The roof is doweled and was designed to be removed for cleaning (though we never did). Once the roof is off, the plywood panels could slide out. The floor rests on a rabbet so it’s easy for us to reach for her toys if they roll under the house. My father in law added the roof shingles and my mother in law found the dog head-figure in a thrift store and glued it at the top. A family project and a happy dog.
