first segmented turning

This was a learning project, made entirely from scrap wood, Lid is from cut offs from a cutting board that I made, the finial is purple heart given to me by a friend. Other woods are walnut, maple, and ash. There is a major mistake in it, can you see it. I hope I don’t make that mistake again!

For a first its really nice. If you don’t make mistakes how are you going to get better. I tried my first last week and its in pieces all around my lathe when it came apart.
