January, 2012—Remember the Jetsons? It was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I had this idea to make an odd band saw box with a pedestal base and 3-D curves. As I started doodling on my pine glue-up blank, an object harking back to some kind of Jetsons-like TV set emerged. I decided to go with it.
The few people who have seen it so far say, profoundly, “It looks like a TV from the Jetsons!” So I guess the design works from that point of view.
This is pine with a walnut handle and a walnut base, covered in multiple coats of water-base poly, brushed on. The last photo includes a book, for scale.

Another creatively inventive box here Art.
One question: Is it a bit top heavy? I’m wondering if you pull the drawer open with a little weight in it, might it tip? Just wondering.
I like it!

Yep, it does look a little space-age, and nice eye-catching design. Another beauty!

I’m such an idiot. I saw your book (I’ll call it “strategic product placement”) and a subliminal part of my brain said, “Hey! What a great book! I wonder how much it is on Amazon?” So I went to Amazon, bought it, plus two other books on cool projects. $65 later, I am cursing you, and your Jetson’s box! Haahaahaa…
Seriously tho, I LOVE bandsaw boxes, and this one is just awesome. Great work bro…
