Since I’ve just started to equip my shop and I love accessories made out of wood, I decided to make a container in which I can store screws, nails, and so on.
It’s made out of a single piece of steamed beech. Each box is 3” x 5” and 1” thick and free-hand routed to ¾” depth.
It has no finish on it. Its only sanded – first 120 P then came the trick. For end grain I used a polyethylene polishing brush fixed to a power drill. It has made the end grain darker, a bit shinier and a kind of aged.

Wow- I thought it was nice enough for a jewelry box… but it holds nuts and bolts!
Thanks for posting!

Awesome idea. I was just looking for some type of container/drawer system to store nails and screws in and this is perfect idea to start with. It even looks good. Great job!

That is beautiful! My wife would tell me to put a finish on it and use it for jewelry!

Thank yo for your kind comments and warm welcome. It means a lot to me.
I also think it’s nice enough to be a jewelry box – I think I’ll make one to my girlfriend too. And of course, I’m going to put finish on it. LOL
