Lift-lid box in maple and walnut

Here’s a little box I made as a gift for a friend. The sides and bottom are figured maple, the miter keys and lid are walnut. I originally considered avoiding using the board with the knot, but then decided it gave the box a little character. Finish is a couple of applications of boiled linseed oil, followed by three coats of wipe-on polyurethane. (I apologize for the crummy iPhone photos.) Thanks for looking.

Doug, the box looks very nice. I like the side with the knot and that whole piece of wood has a lot of interesting features.

Nice. I like little knots and inclusions. Adds character just as you said.
