Similar to the Christmas 2011 project I posted, this 2010 Christmas project for the wife is a longer and taller sofa type table. Again here is wood that was given to me (birch top and curly maple legs). I do have a problem though, the free wood is in very short supply! Since I’m a novice woodworker, the tapered legs really strained my ability but as is typical a jig did all the work. This too is pocket hole joinery. The stain I believe is just a clear coat. The black birch top (although not very noticeable in the pic) really pops with visual grain and color change. I want to build more with this wood.
The table works better for us at the landing of the basement stairs instead of behind the sofa.
