Great project!
My grandfather worked making PBY6A’s, which were all manufactured here in New Orleans.

Raymond, your Canso looks great. I am an old RC modeler and did a bit of full size flying years ago. For sure an aviation buff. I have always loved the PBY’s, such a cool airplane. Your story that goes with your model is also great. Not to many know about the Canadian version PBY (Canso). I am lucky enough to live just a couple of miles away from the Canadian War Plan Heritage. They have one in their museum. The nice thing about this place is that it is a flying museum. I often see the Canso fly over on it’s way to and from shows.

I use to live in Winnipeg, and spent a great deal of time at the Wester Canada Avaition Museum, I have flowen several times on the Canso and have fond memories of sitting behind the rear gun blisters and being sprayed with water from the leaking windows. The Canso’s I flew in CF CRR and CF GLX were converted to water bombing, and I would go along for the ride with my dad. The company use to do a emploie fly in fishing trip a few times a year as well they were great old airplanes. It’s nice to meet a fellow RC’r i have the drawings for the 108” span PBY might be a good winter propject next fall.

Nicely done Ray!
I always found the Catalina one of the most beautiful aircrafts ever made and yours is a beautiful rendition of such a fine bird.

Very nice!
Two water bombers do a lot of practice near our lake place.
They are made in Canada by Bombardier.
Some pictures for you, of one flying right over us.

They scoop up over 1000 gallons in a few seconds.

I glad you liked them.
When they practice, they fly over our place at tree top height about every ten minutes.

I got inside the other 215 (The MN DNR has two) a couple of years ago. It surprised me how small the two tanks for the water looked. But, they hold 800 gallons each. They figure they need eleven seconds on the surface to top off. The scoops are 4” x 6”, one for each tank.
