This marking gauge is made from New Zealand Black Marie and Australian Blackwood. I used an old jigsaw blade for the blade. Finished with teak wax.
I will make another one next week and video it for you guys.

What is Black Marie? Aussie Blackwood I know because I grow it ( in fact I shamefully just made gluts out of them today). Never heard of Black Marie and a search comes up with nothing. What is it?

Probably just my spelling he he. Maire.
The Maori people used it for its weight and strength. Very heavy and strong. Botanical name is Nestegis cunninghamii (Hook.f.) L. Johnson
Family of Oleaceae

Thanks Andy. Must be a N.Island thing. I’ve never been to that country! :) so I have never seen one.

I will never forget the beauty of Auckland and Rotura. Kiwi’s are truly blessed with those islands.
