Maple Leaf Box

I don’t do a lot of carving, but every now and again I get the urge to draw in three dimensions, so to speak. In this case, it’s a shallow maple box with an oversized, rabbited lid. A maple leaf is then relief-carved into the lid.

Plans from an old issue of Popular Woodworking.

Real nice work, I love the design and just how you made a simple little box into a piece of art.

I look at that third picture and think “That’s a real beaut, real simple, maybe even I could carve it though I’ve never had any luck before”. You’ve encouraged me to try again.

It’s a nice box; I’ve never seen on quite like it.
