Made a couple of spice racks in this style for Christmas gifts…and after the holiday was over, I got to thinking about how I could really use on too. This one is a bit bigger (20 in. wide x 36 in. high x 3.5 in. deep) than the two I previously made, with more room on the bottom shelf for bottles and larger containers of various cooking supplies. I’m pretty happy with it as it fills up some wall space right next to the pantry that wasn’t really doing anything useful, previously. Now I just have to wait (if I’m smart) for the lady of the house to get home from work so that we can stock it, and finally not have to dig through and knock things over to find that course ground black pepper. Red Oak with a polyurethane finish.

looks nice installed, good idea. I’m always a fan of filling up empty wall space with practical wood pieces. I wish more people would think like that!!!

Nice design. I hope to make one very similar to this but about 1/2 the size. The pics helped me a lot. Ditto the nice practical project like “newage” stated.

Thanks guys! Here is the site that gave me the initial inspiration http://www.grampasworkshop.net/spicerack.html Turns out that we have more spices and herbs and cooking items (we like to cook around here) than I will ever have enough shelf space for, but already it has given us the opportunity to reorganize the pantry, and we don’t have to dig for stuff we use frequently.

And I will tell you guys, almost about everything I have built that is still in my house was to fill some practical need. I keep just looking around, thinking “What could I really use THERE?”.

I like it, never enough spices! Just like tools.
