Cherry on a Rhodium fountain pen kit. I know a lot of people look for really figured blanks, especially for fountain pens, but I think there’s something to be said for the look of straight Cherry. The warmth goes really well alongside the cold feel from the metal hardware offering a nice balance. I gave the Cherry a bit of sun to kick start the patina.

CA finish. Thanks for looking.

Great looking pen. One of my favorites I’ve turned is a straight piece of cherry. Your reasoning shares my views. I also like the photo being an amature photographer. Shooting with a pretty narrow depth of field. Is that with a point and shoot?

Thanks! Santa was kind to me and I found a new DSLR under the tree this year. Shot this with a Canon Rebel T3. It’s my first DSLR so I think I’m more of a newbie than an amateur photographer. Been trying to learn what I can to get better shots of my pens so online customers will stop saying “Your pictures didn’t do the pen justice” :)

Well you’re doing well. I’m too lazy to get mine out so I just use my iPhone! If you’re interested in classes, most photography stores hold classes that are about $50 for DSLR’s. Very well worth the money. Now, before I get reported for talking photography and not woodworking, I’ll leave it at that! Thanks again for sharing.

My wife has kindly let me turn half the dining room table into my photo studio :p A small light tent at the end with the camera on a tripod, hooked up to my laptop alongside the tent so I can see the shot nice and big before I snap it.
