Small Table

This is one of my first projects. The table top is a small slab of beech wood and the sides are yellow birch. Stain is Jacobean. Used as a table in the middle of my reclining couch, but now my roommate uses this little guy to hold his computer!

I was wondering how you managed to prevent lateral force untill I saw the last picture. Love the clean lines an thick stock. Finish came out really nice too.
