This is a pen & pencil desk set I made for a colleague and good friend for his 70th birthday. The pen & pencil are Australian myrtle burl & the desktop pen holder is also Australian myrtle burl with Australian cedar pen insert cups. The pens have a shellawax finish & the desktop holder has a hand brush poly finish.

I assume you turned the insert cups? That base is really fine. Good work Grumpy.

Hi Grumpy,
This is nice work. Anyone would be proud to have this on their desk. I really am beginning to appreciate the live edge I have seen on a number of pieces. In the past I probably would have removed this “defect” but have seen the error of my ways.
As always this is a nice project.
Thanks for sharing.

Grumpy,
Exquisite artistry! You may want to consider submitting this one to The Turner’s magazine.

Nice Job! I note that the pens are a “full figured” design…very cool. I especially like the look of the holder. By the way…you don’t look all that Grumpy. -SST

Great idea for that spare chunk of wood. The pens are really nice too.
