im really not sure what to call this piece, i had this piece of walnut that was very odd shaped and to me it was to beautiful to burn or discard, so i had a thought come to add it to a small slab of sweet gum that i had, to me it looks like a mountain peak, and i figure i could put a candle on it or some other piece, i have several small bears that would be perfect there as well, so i did pick one that i got while i was in Seward Alaska, and he looks perfect on there. this is made from walnut, that had some crotch figure in it and what i think is sweet gum, it came from a fire wood save that i made another piece from that i posted here. i found the best way to put these two together was to use some dowel wood, and it seems to look OK to me..what do you wood workers think…i like the piece and have it placed already in the living room. thank you for looking and i always enjoy and appreciate your comments…grizz

My favorite is the one with the bear, of course! I think it looks cool! What a wonderful sculpture and a great history to go with the piece! A great reminder of Alaska for you. :D

I was confused, for a second there.
So it’s ONE project, but … you’ve dressed it up a few different ways, right ???
Very cool concept ! You could dump about 25 feet of SNOW on it, and call it Cordova, Alaska. [YIKES !]
;-)
Great work. Very fun look.

Very, very different, and very unique. It would be a neat place to leave cookies and milk for Santa next Christmas.. just kidding. It’s a lovely piece of art and you have every right to be proud of it.

I believe you’re goin all “artsie” on us Grizz :: )))
This is a neat little piece, dont worry about the dowels they add a bit of “bush” art to it.
Well done

Looks like a petrified bone from a grizzly bear. You definately have an eye for creating pieces of art.
