I got to spend a little time during the holidays making some Christmas ornaments. It is my first shot at turning them and I found it to be a lot of fun. They went over very well as Christmas gifts. Most of the wood was scraps from around the shop. One is Spalted Silver Maple and Ebony. The striped ones are Red Heart and Maple left over from a box I made for my wife. A couple are just unidentified pieces of wood that were laying around. One is aromatic cedar and ebony. The acorns are Walnut and Maple. They are all hollowed out and quite light.

Great looking ornaments! I’ll have to get my hands busy trying to make these.

Very nice ornaments. I especially like the one in your last photo. I like the elongated look.

First turnings? Wow! I just read your post more carefully. These are first turned ornaments. I like your segmented work. I’m trying to imagine how you hollowed them to reduce the weight. Very nice work.
