Had some nice figured cherry I’ve been sitting on for awhile just waiting for the perfect project. My wife has had this beautiful engraved 1851 Navy hidden away in a case. Better to put it on display, I think. I made this for her for Christmas. The “glass” is lexan. I have real glass and cut it up and noticed a scratch right in the middle of the main window. Meh… had some lexan and its much easier to work with and very clear so I went with that instead. The back panel is lightly figured dark walnut to create contrast with the light steel of the pistol. The pistol was engraved by master engraver Sean McVicker.

Wonderful Case. But it is out cooled by the super fine engraved revolver. Thank you for sharing.

It’s beautiful and the pistol looks great in there.

Gotta love cherry wood. A great looking case for an exceptionally nice firearm. Great job !!

Do you have anything else other than the dowel under the barrel holding this in place? I have a 1911 Army issue Colt .45 that I’d like to build a case for and really like the way your’s turned out.

Thanks! Theres just a Y support under the barrel. I was going to do something more but the butt of the handle is flat so it sits nicely in there. The top is actually a hinged lid so you just set the pistol straight down.
