Here’s another bandsaw box I finished today. I started this quite a few months ago (okay, almost a year ago) where all of the boxes had the same design including the hidden compartment, and finally finished it. It’s made out of cedar and finished with danish oil and paste wax only. Wine flocking inside. Hardware from Hobby Lobby or Joann’s. I’m giving this to a co-worker.

Awesome box!! I like that it’s actually 3 drawers. Very nice work.

@ed220 – Thanks. I like the tray portion in the big left drawer too. It can be used separately if desired, or placed on top of the box. I just have come to think that bandsaw boxes waste a lot of wood – if you don’t use the portion you cut out for the inside of the drawer. I was looking for some way to use more of the cutout.

The hidden compartment has a magnet on the back to help keep it joined to the main drawer. I glued a steel washer to the back of the cavity that the hidden compartment fits in.

Hi Eddy – I got the flocking material at Woodcraft. I got the small bag and the applicator from them. If you keep a newspaper under the project as you apply the flocking you can catch the overspray and “recycle” it. It doesn’t take that much flocking to cover something so the small bag really lasts quite a while.

Here’s a link to Woodcraft's flocking page.

@woodshaver – thank you. The recipient was out of the office today so I left it on her desk.

@a1Jim – thank you. I had a boo boo on this one – got some of the flocking paint slung around and had to sand it off. I couldn’t actually get it all the way off on the top of the right drawer.
