So my wife was looking through the Pottery Barn catalog and noticed a changing table/storage unit that would work for our living room. It cost roughly $1,500. So of course I jumped in and said, “I can make that1”

It was a great way to test out my new Dado blades, table saw sled and router table. The main unit is made of Birch Ply with Poplar trim at the base and mitered/shaped Poplar top. We painted it Sherwin Williams Pure White to match the trim in our home, and animal baskets are from Target. All in all it cost about $150 to make, much better than the $1,500 the fancy pants store wanted.

It was a lot of fun to make and all of the other mommies on the street think I’m the best dad/husband around.

Very nice looking, I’ll be making a changing table in the next few days as well. The prices they charge at those “fancy pants” stores is rediculous and this way you can be proud of what you accomplished. I like it alot :)

The animal baskets are great!

Beautiful project. I go to Pottery Barn all the time to get ideas. They have some great designs. If only they would sell their plans. It’s a lot more fun building them yourself. Thanks for sharing.
