For some reason I didn’t get a lot of photos of this piece but it came out really nice. An interesting simple contrast using all hard maple. Light was natural, dark was a dark walnut colored finish. Not our “normal” theme at the time, but the client was very happy with the result.

Satin conversion varnish finish. This is nice solid maple – all well configured joints so piece will last many many generations to come!

Very nice piece, I love the contrasting colors. What did you use to color the wood?I just finished a hard maple project and used dark walnut dye and shellac, but would be interested to know of an alternate approach.

This one if I remember right was colored lacquer – you could also use a colored conversion varnish which I’d prefer over the lacquer. Not a fan of lacquer … but it worked at the time a friend of mine sprayed it for me with a combination of dye stains and colored finish.
