I made this french rolling pin for my wife last year for Christmas. We had some exotic hardwoods lying around and they gave great contrast. The three woods used in this are white maple, tigerwood, and padauk. The padauk is the red/orange wood and although it is very pretty here, it does have a larger grain than the other woods and tends to get flour and stuff stuck in it. The padauk also has a strong color that still, even a year later leaves orange on rags after wiping it down. This piece is finished with a salad bowl oil.
