My older daughter came over for the day and wanted to try her hand at the lathe. So I cut her up some Red Oak and she proceeded to turn down the stick into a dowel. Then I made her a story board with some design ideas and using some brand new Sorby chisles she produced this nice candle stick. I turned the drip base and we turned a round tenon into the base of the stick and then using a forsner bit drilled out the place for the candle and the base to accept the candle stick. We added a tung oil finish to it. I think it is pretty good for her second time using the lathe.

Well done! My daughter is also a turner. Ain’t it nice to have one of the offspring interested in the same things you are.
Kindest regard,
