This little bird is handcarved from bass wood, then painted with acrylics to look life-like. He has all of his feathers burned in detail, and several coats satin varnish applied….GLASS EYES, and metal legs and feet. He makes a “toweee” sound when he chirps. Has cracked corn in his beak. He is 6 1/2” high x 6” wide x 4” thick at the base.
The bird is life size….. 6” long

This is a very realistic carving. As usual the details are simply outstanding.

By the way I wnated to look at more of your works and tried to access both THE WOODCARVER’S SHOP GALLERY and but my search did not find any web site matching this link.

Another of my passions….............Nice Work.

Have you heard of the “Ward World Championships”. Definitly worth a trip to Maryland for it.

I am fortunate to live near some of the best carvers in the world and even more fortunate to have been taught by them. Wayne Simkin, Patrick Godin, Bob Lavender, and Bruce…......most live within ten minutes of me. All have won the masters at the “Ward”, some several times…........inspiration plus.

Nice carving Dave":

I agree with Charlie, the ducks are beautiful, but this one is my favorite.
