Sofa Table

Project by Bob Strasser posted 628 days ago 406 views 3 times favorited 15 comments Add to Favorites Watch

I just joined this very friendly forum yesterday. I’m impressed by all the welcome messages.

The picture of the sofa “table” shows the style of furniture I like to make. I also like working with oak. This project started out as a table, but turned into what you see. I like it and so does my wife. The wood turning objects on top of my project were done by others who want me to get a lathe and join their group. But I have no interest in turning.

I finished the piece with General Finishes Honey Maple oil-based stain and used General Finishes Polyacrylic for a top coat. These items are available from Woodcraft.

I used Blum Tandem drawer slides for the first time. I can’t say that I’m overly impressed with them though. At least the slides don’t show. I will use another brand next time just for comparison.

That is a nice piece. I’m an Oak fan also.
I like that you kept the grain flowing across the to drawers, it shows you were paying attention to your design.

Hi Bob,

This is a nice piece of furniture. It looks beautiful. With your next post you may want to add some additional pictures showcasing the piece from a different angle and the inside of the piece as well.

What kind of finish did you use on the piece?

Hi Bob

Welcome to Lumberjocks. A good group of people who love wood working like you do.

Beautiful job on the sofa table. Anybody would be proud to have this in their home. Thanks for posting.

Great workmanship and a great looking table. I think you would like woodturning if you gave it a chance.

Nice work…that’s a lot more than a table! That’s a sofa chest with drawers and doors! You made that table a lot more useful than the typical sofa table!
