Puttering Around with Oak and Cherry

Hey everybody, hope all is well out there.

Had a chance to revisit a project I had left a ways back sitting around the shop….and so I took this Oak dowel and gave it a spin!

I had some Cherry wood from our back yard to make the actual putting head, I hand carved and shaped it to what I thought might look cool…and yet still make a good contact with the ball.

I have not been to the local mini golf course in years…lol, used to play with my Grandfather when I was a teenager.

Just thought….why not? Could I make a golf Putter if I tried…this is how it usually happens in my shop, these off the wall ideas….lol….since It is a hobby/OBSESSION…...whooops….did I say that?...lol

So here is what I came up with…from a while back making the putting head….to the handle I turned tonight…..putts pretty well actually.

I used rasps, files, handsaws, and the good ole spokeshave to really get this cherry piece into a shape.

My reference was an old putter I saw on the web, I shot a pic using my cell phone cam so I could look every so often while in the shop…lol…...high tech stuff.

Well I hope this was something of interest, it was fun to make….and I really like it….something different to putter around with…..aww I had to say it….lol Well…maybe it’s something Tiger WOODS…..would try using…aww…...sorry….I know….the jokes are getting worse….ahh hell….it’s a Tuesday…...haaaa.
