Here is a simple trivet I made. This was my first attempt at a checkerboard pattern and I was happy with the way it turned out. The wood is leftover hard maple from my jewelry cabinet project posted recently along with… an unknown wood! I was looking for something I had around the shop that would contrast with the maple and remembered that I saved the wood from some door frames that I had removed while renovating. The wood was planed down and cleaned up nicely, and contrasts nicely too! Finish is mineral oil.
