This regal looking fellow is handcarved from basswood, painted with acrylics then finished with several coats of satin varnish. He is life-size about 19” or 20” long. The rump has been notched out with a saw to accept the tail, then the whole rump area is built up and around with auto body putty, then shaped and carved. I try to make the tail a stronger wood than basswood…. usually maple if I can find some laying around someplace…. cherry would also work.
THANKS FOR VIEWING MY GALLERY!

Hi Dave

We better start calling you the duck master. I have never seen none better. I’m glad your ducks arn’t sitting on a pond some where during duck season. I would be crawling on my hands and knees to get to them because they look so life like. Outstanding work! Thank you for posting.

God Bless
tom
