This is a faithful reproduction of Norm Abrams’ instructions in his original NYW book from the late 80’s I think. I even used recycled pine like he always does for these type of projects. I tore down a set of built in shelves to install a new built in cabinet in my den and kept the pine, as it was largely knot-free and probably about 50-60 years old. I planed the boards down to about 5/8’s to remove the finish and went from there.

The table turned out great. I have the same NYW book and have built the same table a few times.
