Just finished nine of these boxes. Took me a little longer than I anticipated. One of the kids brought home a flu virus with them… courtesy of a classmate from school. Gee thanks! I’m tellin’ you though, I haven’t been down for the count like that in quite some time. It was a doozy. Anyway I did manage to finish the boxes in a little over a week. These particular boxes came from some left over trim from the scrap bin at the local lumber yard. I took the ribs off the back by adding a strip 3/16” thick to the front on the narrower portion and ran the pieces through the planer to get the reverse sides flat and proceeded to miter the corners to the length and width I needed to accomodate the size of lids I made. Then used some flooring for the bottoms. Nothing much, but I couldn’t really think of anything else to use up the short trim pieces I scrounged up earlier. This will be my first posted project. I’m curious to see how much time it takes to load photos on this site. cuttin’ safe, Neal

Pretty nice. I like the way you combined the square and round.

Interesting boxes. Kind of have an Asian feel to them. Yep, that flu is a killer. Had my wife down for about 2 weeks. Glad your feeling better! Welcome to LJ.

These are very nice boxes but they tend to be habit forming so I am sure we are going to see more from you. I really like the overall design and profiling you put on the boxes as well.

As a suggestion on future posts (I am sure there will be some given the success of these boxes) you might want to consider adding pictures from different angles and, of course, the inside as well.

Thanks for the post. I have come to appreciate these projects.

Good looking boxes – I like the contoured side and the contrasting timber
